The Financial System Is Broken — It’s Time to Lead Differently

Let’s get straight to it: there is not a shortage of money in the world. What there is, is a fundamental misunderstanding of what money actually is.

Here are 10+ reasons why we keep running in circles, perpetuating lack, scarcity, and suffering — when the truth is, we could all be thriving.

1. We don't understand what money really is.

Money is not a limited resource. It’s not gold in a vault. It’s not a crusty old pie you have to fight for a slice of. Money is created. It’s an exchange of value, a promissory "IOU note" that bridges the timing differences in the exchange, and it’s generated through our life force, creativity, intuition, and get-up-and-go. The people who generate money aren’t always the smartest on paper. They’re the ones who move the flow of creative energy.

2. We overvalue intellect and exam results.

Having a PhD or a list of qualifications doesn’t mean you know how to create anything. It means you know how to pass a test. Many of the world’s wealthiest people never finished formal education. And many of the most brilliant minds with diplomas on the wall are trapped in financial struggle. Intellect is not enough. Without intuition, emotional intelligence, street-smarts, and creativity — you’re not creating value. You’re following someone else’s script.

3. We are deeply out of balance.

Our internal masculine and feminine energies are wildly out of sync. We glorify doing, goals, and pressure. We dismiss being, caring, and flow. Without inner harmony, we burn out before we even begin to build. True abundance needs both.

4. We have stripped creativity out of the system.

Creativity has been erased from education. It’s not taken seriously in business. And yet creativity is how money is made. Every product, every service, every breakthrough — began with an idea. We must reclaim time, space, and value for creative thinking, or we choke off the source of our wealth.

5. We misunderstand value.

People want something for nothing. Meanwhile, corporate greed has skewed the value system beyond recognition. The top of the company takes the largest slice, while the people who hold it together at the bottom barely survive. This distortion fractures trust, motivation, and team culture. Fair value exchange needs to be rebuilt from the ground up.

6. Governments are unqualified and unchecked.

Let’s say it plainly: most of our leaders are not qualified to be making the decisions they’re making. There are no mandatory qualifications to lead a country. No required business acumen. No spiritual maturity. No deep emotional intelligence. And yet these are the people holding the pen on education, health, economy, and international peace. This is not democracy — it’s delusion.

7. True democracy doesn’t exist (except maybe in Switzerland).

Real democracy looks like collective decision-making, not party warfare. It looks like informed public voting on real issues, not charisma contests every 4 or 5 years. We need boards of experienced, multidisciplinary leaders who represent all parts of society and are held accountable — not expensive politicians learning on the job and playing short-term games.

8. Our tax systems punish growth.

We are taxing the heart out of the very people who are trying. Not everyone in the “higher tax bracket” is rich. Many are stretched with mortgages, costs of living, and responsibilities to others. Aggressive taxation creates resentment. It discourages growth. And it tells the next generation that doing well will only get you penalised.

9. Performance culture is breaking people.

Endless performance goals, KPIs, and reviews are driving stress, burnout, and low self-worth. They pit people against each other. They prioritise output over health. And they remove all joy from the work we were born to do. Managing is not controlling. Leadership is not dominance. The most important people in your company are not the managers. They are the ones on the front line, delivering the promise of your brand every single day.

10. We’ve normalised aggression over compassion.

This entire system is fuelled by aggression: – Aggression in competition – Aggression in control – Aggression in judgement And we’re all paying the price with a mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health crisis that no prescription drug can fix.

And finally… we are spiritually bankrupt.

We’ve lost connection with our essence. Every human being has a soul — an inner compass that is wise, loving, and quietly waiting to be listened to. But the world drowns it out. True intelligence includes intuition. True wealth includes spiritual health. And true leadership requires a heart-led connection to something greater than the spreadsheet.

Money is not scarce. Wisdom is. 

This is not a rant. This is a call to presence. A wake-up signal. A turning point.

We are running out of money because we are choking the very conditions required to generate it. If you are a business leader, a manager, a policy maker, or simply someone who wants to do better — Look in the mirror and ask:

How do I take the pressure off? How do I dial up compassion? How do I make space for creativity, intelligence, and soul — not just in me, but in every person around me?

It’s time to create a new system. One where money flows, humans thrive, and our Earth is not just a background — but the heartbeat of our decisions.
